Do you know what an Aircraft safety card is? Yes, a printed document that instructs the passengers. The instructions are mainly about how to handle the various types of emergency conditions that might arise during the time of flight. Although with the pace of technology, there has been a huge awareness among the passengers about the emergency safety procedures, yet the printed documents cannot be overlooked. Safety cards  are a prime example of it. The emergency instructions are handed to the passengers along with a peace of mind before the flight takes off.

The airlines provide the safety cards for all the commercial flights and they are placed in the back pocket of the seat in front of each passenger. Before the taking off the flight, the safety demonstrations are given by the cabin crew or by means of a video presentation. The main object is to guide the passengers with the safety protection equipments  so that they can familiarize themselves before the flight takes off.

The safety cards are often laminated and they are robust enough to be handled by the different passengers. The instructions are specific as per the model of the airplane. The contents of the safety card are normally found in the form of pictures as well as graphical illustrations. Some of the instructions include dealing with depressurization, opening the emergency exit door, or inflating life rafts in the event of a water landing, etc.

The graphic illustrations help those people to understand easily, who speak a different language than the flight attendants. Children, illiterate passengers, can well understand the instructions by means of pictorial or graphical representation. Some aircrafts provide Braille versions of their safety cards for the visually impaired persons. All arrangements are made to en certain personal security  of the passengers during the time of the journey.
